Hounslow Highways is prepared for changing weather as the winter season arrives.

Weather warnings issued by the Met Office are immediately communicated and actioned. In the event of an alert, Hounslow Highways crews are made aware that postponing works may be required and equipment to secure sites is distributed to all crews.

Six response teams are available in emergencies as well as standby crews for street lighting, drainage and tree surgery. Callouts are managed 24 hours a day by the Network Hub, in direct contact with all operational teams.

In addition, road surface temperatures are monitored daily to see if Hounslow Highways’ six gritters will need deploying on key routes in the borough.

Hounslow Highways Service Director, Rob Gillespie, said: “At a time of year where there is an increased chance of strong winds, snowfall or heavy rain, it is important to stay vigilant so that we are fully prepared to deal with all eventualities. We will continue to ensure sufficient resource is in place to keep the streets free of obstructions and hazards and we will continue to work with all agencies to use the very best forecasting and intelligence to meet all demands of the seasons.”
